About Melody Tang, AIA
Melody is a 2022 AIA Young Architect Award recipient and currently leads teams as a Technical Director for LPA Design Studios, recipient of the 2025 AIA Firm Award. Her career at LPA has spanned over 20 years, and she was elevated to firm leadership as Associate in 2020.
Melody is driven by a passion for both the practical and poetic aspects of the architecture profession. Her experience includes commercial, civic, hospitality, and educational projects - everything from small renovations to multi-phase, ground-up high-rise campuses. She loves to learn and thrives on collaborating with interdisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, and designers. She cares deeply about mentoring and raising up the next generation of architects and believes architects have the unique ability to make a real and lasting impact in people's lives by creating sustainable, beautiful spaces that address the needs of our communities and an increasingly diverse population.
Melody received her Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University, and spent time studying abroad in Japan as well as Rome, Italy. She started her career at Bostwick Design Partnership in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to California and joining LPA.
Melody’s involvement with AIA Orange County began with co-chairing her local Student Design Competition in 2016, which led to joining the Chapter’s annual Design Awards committee. She eventually became chair of the committee and joined the Board as Director of Design in 2019. She also served on the Strategic Planning Committee and helped guide the chapter’s vision and goals. In 2023 she was elevated to the Executive Committee as Secretary, and in 2024 she was nominated to be 2025 Vice President / President-Elect. Today she serves as President of AIA OC, the third largest chapter in the state of California. She is also a member of AIA California's Board of Directors.

My mom named me Melody because she loves music. I grew up playing the piano and was in an a cappella group in college, and still love music to this day!
