Attendees will learn what professional services contracts can do and cannot do, and also how to “debug” a contract. In addition, they will learn how to mitigate project management risks, how to protect intellectual property rights, and how to reduce A/R losses.

Presenters:

Michelle R. Generaux received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame (BA, 1993) and law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law (JD, 1996), and her practice focuses is on the representation of privately held businesses, with an emphasis on architectural and engineering firms. She has extensive experience in entity selection and formation, contract drafting and negotiation, ownership transitions and mergers and acquisitions. She also practices in the areas of probate and trust administration.

Devin E. Murtaugh, is the firm’s appellate practitioner and has been successful on nearly every appeal he has worked on. He also handles general civil litigation and probate litigation and has tried numerous cases to verdict throughout Southern California. Most of his cases involve business, real estate, construction, and inheritance disputes. He has lectured for the AIA Orange County and is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.

Education: Vassar College (B.A., 2009), University of Southern California (J.D., 2013)

Bar Admissions: California, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California
