This course explains the differences between Fire and Smoke Fabric Curtain ratings: UL 10D, UL 10B (ASTM E2226), and UL 263 (ASTM E119).

Learning Objectives:


  • Learn about the history of fabric fire-rated smoke curtains and their adoption into the International Building Codes.


  • Learn about the history of fire-rated smoke curtains and their adoption into the International Building Codes.


  • Discover the differences between UL 10B Fire Curtains and UL 10D Fire Protective Smoke Curtain Assemblies, as per the code update from 2021 IBC Section 716.4.


  • Describe the 25% rule found in IBC Section 707.6 for Fire Barriers and how opening protectives tested in accordance with ASTM E119 or UL 263 meet the fire-resistance rating of a wall.
