SENIOR JOB CAPTAIN

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role is for someone who excels in both design and production. Sensitivity to how the two interplay together and would like a position that allows autonomy while support is offered.

Responsibilities include support through the production of Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents submissions that are well-drawn both technically and graphically as well as clear, well-coordinated, and complete. By applying your technical, problem-solving, software and graphics skills you will assist in the completion of high-quality, technical design solutions, drawings, specifications, and Revit models that meet the standards and expectations of the firm.

Communication is a major component of this role, requiring that you co-lead project communication efforts with the Project Architect, the consultants, and the jurisdictions. Autonomy is given in this role here at Kabbany Architecture, so you may be asked to take a role in both design and construction documentation. Excellence in both is required to succeed in this role. As Senior Job Captain, you will also take on a more active role and have ownership of the project BIM. We may also ask you to assist the owner in tasks related to marketing efforts or to assist with tasks during the Schematic Design or Construction phases of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

BIM

• 3D modeling and documentation in Revit

• Modeling of custom residentials projects, both renovations and new builds.

• Modeling of landscape topography and site elements is also critical to this role.

• Assist with the initial project set up within Revit.

• Structural modeling as well as MEP modeling is required for coordination purposes.

QUALITY CONTROL

• Monitor and maintain continued high level of model and drawing quality and model health across team including consultants

• Maintain quality control of documents for graphics, standards, and coordination

COORDINATION AND COMMUNICATION

• Coordinate with engineering consultants and ensure we meet deadlines in a timely manner. Understanding how to efficiently meet project deadlines is critical.

• Coordinate with vendors to maintain design intent and obtain jurisdictional approval.

• Maintain communication within internal project team and consultant team.

TECHNICAL DESIGN

• Conduct code analysis and research, with oversight from the Project Architect and Project Manager

• Responsible for specific technical design aspects of the project in coordination with the Project Architect, work independently with guidance from the Project Architect.

• Coordinate significant building components and evaluate and recommend appropriate technical design solutions.

• Address constructability comments, plan check corrections, and contractor overview.

QUALIFICATIONS:

PREREQUISITES

• Professional degree in Architecture

• 6 to 8 years related experience in an architectural firm

• Significant experience of at least 3 years using Autodesk Revit in a professional setting
